Falcon Middle School News/Information
About Your Falcon School District #49
n the late 1880’s, Falcon School District began as a small rural district. Over the years it consolidated with other one-room districts and grew to its present geographic size of 133 square miles, from the northern country line, south almost to Highway 94, west to Powers Boulevard and east to Peyton Highway.
Falcon District #49 is one of the fastest growing districts in the Pikes Peak Region. Since 1973, the district has grown from one K-12 school with 250 students to 14 schools with over 11,000 students. District #49 consists of Falcon High School, Falcon Middle School, Falcon Elementary School, Woodmen Hills Elementary and Meridian Ranch Elementary in the rural settings. We have Evans Elementary, Remington Elementary, Stetson Elementary, Ridgeview Elementary, Springs Ranch Elementary and Odyssey Elementary, along with Horizon Middle School, Skyview Middle School and Sand Creek Highs School in the suburban area of Colorado Springs.
The Pikes Peak School of Expeditionary Learning, Rocky Mountain Classical Academy and Banning Lewis Ranch Academy are Charter Schools within our district.
Falcon is the only school district in Southern Colorado to offer a modified school year. Students attend school for 9 weeks then get a 2 week break. This results in two week breaks and 9 weeks off in the summer. Falcon’s success is measured by the success of its students. Annually, Falcon Students’ composite scores are above the national average on the ACT’s and the SAT’s. Our CSAP’s scores prove we are in the right path in all subject areas.
District #49 is very proud of its Early Childhood, Special Education, and Elementary Needs-Based Enrichment Programs with authentic assessments, Student Assistance Teams, and diversified curricular programs. These programs, along with strong instructional teams, make Falcon a student-centered school district.
